Salmon and trout angling | Coarse angling
Monday 5th January to Sunday 11th February 2007.
There were some fair conditions on the Drowes this week with good water levels over the week. There were a number of anglers fishing though not as many as one would expect given the conditions. There were 3 spring salmon recorded for the week so far. One fish caught on Tuesday from the back of Kelly’s though the message is a little garbled and the size and name cannot be made out! A Derry angler caught and released a 10lb salmon from Lennox’s Bridge on Thursday and a Mr McEvoy, Enniskillen, caught and released an 11lb salmon on Saturday.
Lough Melvin has been fairly quiet for the week with only a few boats out in pursuit of that elusive first ‘Springer’. No reports of the first fish off the Lough yet. A number of good fish have been showing in the Lough which is unusual for the early spring fish. This may be explained by the fact that the water temperature is a little higher than is normal for the time of the year. ‘Watch this space’!
