Salmon and trout angling | Coarse angling
Monday 11th to Sunday 17th February 2008.
The river dropped nicely over the week to give some nice water levels and allied to the still and sunny days there were some nice conditions and a touch of spring in the air. There were a number of anglers fishing, mostly on Saturday. There were 2 salmon recorded at the weekend. On Friday, Maurice Kettles from Enniskillen landed an 8lb fish caught on a white Flying ‘C’ spinner from the Crooked Hole. On Sunday there was a 10lb salmon caught from Lennox’s Bridge on a spinner and I am still awaiting the name of the captor.
Melvin remains quiet with few anglers venturing out on the lough. With the northern side of the lough still closed, there has been little angling pressure. The first Melvin salmon remains to be caught.
