Salmon and trout reports

Monday 14th to Sunday 20th January 2008

RIVER DROWES

The river remained at good levels with the wet weather we have been receiving. There were a small number of anglers fishing over the week with a dozen fishing on Saturday and a few less on Sunday. The fishing is starting to pick up and there were 3 salmon caught over Friday & Saturday. The second salmon of the season was caught on Friday by Colin Gardiner from Lurgan, Co. Armagh who also caught the first salmon weighing 13lb on the 5th. He’s in form this season! This second fish weighed 9½lb and was caught on a Flying ‘C’ from the Boathouse Pool. On Saturday, Raymond Mason recorded an 11lb salmon caught from the Red Roof on a spinner and a further angler from Kells recorded an 8½lb salmon caught on a Flying ‘C’ from Lennox’s Bridge.

At present on Sunday evening there is heavy constant rain and it looks as if water levels will be very high for the start of the coming week.
