Salmon and trout reports

Monday 10th to Sunday 16th March 2008.

RIVER DROWES

There are good numbers of salmon now entering the fishery. Lough Melvin is still very high and consequently there is very high water in the river. On Saturday, Tony Parker recorded a fine 12lb salmon caught on the fly from the sea pools. The fish was released. Emmet Brown recorded a 7lb salmon caught on the fly, also from the sea pools.

LOUGH MELVIN

Lough Melvin remains at very high levels. A number of anglers were fishing the Lough over the week and catches of salmon are increasing. Darren Maguire recorded a 7½lb fish caught on Friday on the troll. On Sunday, his father, Sean Maguire caught a 9lb salmon, also on the troll. The Rossinver Fishery was quiet with little angling during the week. Weather conditions were not favourable.
