There has been excellent fishing reported in the Arva / Gowna area during the past week.

The following anglers who stayed in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva recorded the following weights. Simon Bradley, Lancashire 102.6lb, mixed bag with some Bream up to 4½lb. Andy Timmer, Hereford Angling Club 76lb, mostly Hybrids. Andy Price, The Mallards Angling Club 56lb, Bream and Tench. Alex Biles, The Mallards 86lb Bream and Skimmers. Dave Edwards, The Mallards 45lb Skimmers and Hybrids. Eddie Mahon, Ludlow Angling Club 76lb Roach, Hybrids and Skimmer Bream. Dez Guthirie, The Mallards 80lb Roach, Skimmers and Hybrids. Mike Toner, The Mallards 66lb mixed bag.

The lakes fished included Rockfield, Church Lake, Gowna, Dernaferst, Corfree and Hollybank. The Dave Yeates Memorial took place on Sunday 25th. May on Corfree, Church Lake, Gulladoo, Kevin’s Shore and Rockfield. It was a four hour event. Fifty two anglers took part. The winners are as follows: 1st. Wayne Fuller 50lb. 2nd. Fergal Smith 40lb 12ozs. 3rd. Kevin Norcluffe 40lb 10ozs. 4th. Roy Toulson 38lb 10ozs. 5th. Paul Lee 35lb 05ozs.

Derries Lower on Sean Reilly shore is giving good mixed bags with some Bream. Some anglers who fished Town Lake, Killeshandra bagged 40 Bream the biggest weighing 4lbs. Some Bream were also caught on Tawlagh. Trinity is giving mixed bags of fish mainly small fish. Killykeen is report to be giving good bags of fish. Good Pike fishing is reported on Bawn and Glasshouse Lake.

There are a few anglers in the Cootehill area who report good catches of Bream on Annaghmakerrig and plenty of Roach on Haughtons Shore on the Dromore River.
